Our plan was to join this legendary event in 2015, but the Soutsiders MC team prepared so may atractions and invited so many great guests to Biarritz in this year that there was no chance that it would happens without us.
So we’ve pack our families and bikes and start the over 2000km long journey. After 2 days we’ve reached Biarritz in south-west France. It was thursday. On this day organisers’ve planned surf contest and art exhibition so we’ve time to find our camping, take some rest and do sightseeing. On evening we’ve took the bikes and made some noise in city center.
Friday was the race day. Participians who signed in, could race in pairs up the Jaizkibel Mountain in Spain. The others, like us, could only wach. Next year, when we’ll re-new our race licences we’ll stand up for fight 🙂 After the race we’ve took a ride trough spanish mountains and explore Basque villages. It’s a very beautyfull terrain, people are friendly but only few of then know any foreign language. Luckily, they’ve got smartphones and internet too 🙂 So, we’ve tried some traditional basque dishes and go to the campside. On the evening we rode out for an night meeting in Garage Foch in Biarritz. Here came almost all guys and now we could see all this fantastic bikes and talk with their owners. Atmosphere was magical and the free beer (yep, it was for free!) moved ur minds to other dimension. Even El Solitario’s “World Most Hated Motorcycles” could be loved in this conditions… 🙂
On saturday we’ve join ca 300km long trip around basque mountains. We rode a routes that were’nt showed on many maps (even ours). Bauty landscapes, great asphalt and absolutelly no traffic made this ride a pleasure. After that, on evening there was an open air party with live concerts and prize giving.
A trully novelty for us was that, there was no entry fee, no event area, no rules.. Whole Biarritz and neigbourhood was a one great festival, with hundreds of oldshoolbikes on almost every corner. You want to join – just join. You want to be alone – you are. It’s simple! And in this simplicity is a whole magic.
